In landscape with trees, a young boy in swing pulled by a girl while additional girl on ground plays with dog & watches the scene, near child with sheep in foreground (R); buildings in distance (BRD) scene framed by palm fronds springing from wild flowers & forming arch, ornamented with wreaths at mid-points & ribbon-tied floral festoons beneath arch; in spandrels: shelves, on acanthus leaf supports, holding baskets of flowers This composition is based on Jean-Baptiste Huet's Pastorales à Draperies Bleues, with some figures probably after Boucher. The tapestry was in all likelihood woven at Aubusson, based on the Huet cartoons & also on compositions taken from prints by other 18th century artists. However, it it not clear whether these variants were not also woven at Beauvais (unlikely) or possibly in other secondary looms in France. The quality of this tapestry may not be up to Beauvais standards (Cavallo). The section in the lower field appears to be modern; the seam was added on (Cavallo). The name "Steward Walker" was added in pencil on verso of photograph (Soustelle).
