On Monday, March 13 after WSDOT avalanche crews evaluated the area, maintenance crews were able to use a loader and snow blower to remove debris and snow and safely open one lane of SR 20 east of Newhalem. Emergency vehicles and those stuck between the slide and the winter closure will be allowed through. The highway will remain closed to other traffic until crews can clear the westbound lane.
