Sala del Maggior Consiglio (Hall of the Great Council) in the Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) in Venice in the Veneto region of northern Italy. This is where the Maggior Consiglio assembled laying the foundation of all Paradiso (Paradise). The hall measuring 53 metres long and 25 metres wide is the largest in the Doge’s Palace, and in Europe. In 1577 part of the Doge’s Palace suffered a devastating fire. Restoration work was soon underway, commissioning several artists to paint scenes on its long walls of Venetian history.
