Holmes, manager of the retail store of C. C. Morse & Co., expects to leave shortly on a combined business and pleasure trip to England, which is his native country. His home was formerly in Plymouth and he will spend some time there, it being his first visit to his parents in ten years. As planned, his trip will extend over a period of about three months. M. M. Luther Burbank is reported to be seriously ill at the Adler sanitarium. Eeports are that the celebrated botanist has been in the care of special phy- sicians and nurses, but is showing im- provement and may be able to return soon to his home in Santa Rosa, where his experimental gardens are located. He is past 70 years of age. SPOKANE, WASH. The Market. Greenhouse-grown stock has given way almost entirely to outside stock. The hot weather of the last two weeks has caused a falling off in the demand for flowers outside of funeral work. Various Notes. Mrs. Ella Grant Wilson, of Cleve- land, O., was the guest of the florists at a luncheon at the Davenport hotel last week. Mrs. Wilson is a worker for more publicity by cooperative adver- tising of the florists throughout the country. Wednesday, June 30, the florists en- tertained visiting nurserymen with a trip to Liberty lake and a banquet held at the Davenport hotel.
