Merrymakers along the Corniche, a spacious palm fringed boardwalk that hugs the sides of the Mediterranean. All of Beirut’s denizens come to promenade in the afternoon and watch the fiery sunsets. There are local men smoking nargileh, Muslim women wearing headscarves, the jetsetter crowd power walking, grandfathers fishing with grandkids and teenagers weaving through the crowds on bicycles.
