Fromall these causes of physical dis-tress, the School-Directors con-cluded to dismiss her. Examination revealed bulgingof the right scapula, with drop-ping and recedence of the shoul-der, and the left shoulder waspushed forward; also the seated, she constantlychanged her position, becauseof pain. A jacket of muslin, wet with silicate of soda(ap, gr. , temp. 62°F.), was applied while she was sus-pended. This gave the support so much needed; she becamefree from pains, walked easily, and resumed her position asteacher so efficiently, that the School Board selected berprincipal of the building. She preferred, however, to retainher own school, because it demanded less activity. Herhabit became regular, the cough disappeared, and she sleptcomfortably upon her back. She recovered so much that itwas requisite to remove a wedge-shaped piece from the partof the jacket resting upon the right scapula, bringing theedges together. Her deformity was much corrected; shealso repeatedly used the extension
