Children with brain disorders such as autism have benefitted from dolphin therapy as have children with physical disabilities. In certain quarters it is believed that the dolphins' sonar (ultrasound) has a beneficial effect on the patient. An alternative view is that the opportunity to interact with animals has a positive and ultimately healing effect on the person.
