Christophe Girord, third member of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus


, Nicosia, Nicosia, Cyprus - The Swiss Christophe Girord, third member of the CMP (Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus) in his office in Ledra Palace Hotel, headquarters of the UNFICYP in the UN buffer zone. The CMP works with a team of scientists, both Greek and Turkish Cypriots. They work on the exhumation and identification of victims of the Cyprus conflict 1963/64 and 1974. The mandate of the CMP is divided between three members: Greek Cypriot, Turkish Cypriot and a third member from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), who is appointed by the UN secretary general. The CMP is to aid the reconciliation of different ethnic groups in the area. GT
