A ring was shaped from ■4-in. steel plate and faced andwelded to the main patch, forming the valve chamber headjoint and Ihe body for the cylinder head studs. Four holes were punched in the patch, the patch put onthe C)linder, and the flange heated and set up with aflatter. After the patch was properly shaped the holeswere drilled in the flanges, on centers, the patchagain applied and reset. The patch was then taken offand put on a boring mill and the joint faced and the holebored to admit the valve. Tile jjatcb was then reapplied to the cylinder with a.
