Motorboat Safety. On Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, one of the nation's many water sport areas, a Coast Guard boarding team notifies a boat owner that he has complied with regulations of the Motorboat Act of 1940. This means the boat carries the required safety equipment such as proper fire extinguishers, lights ventilator, flame arrestor, bell, horn, and Coast Guard approved life preservers. Besides boarding duties, the Coast Guard team stands by 24 hours for assistance to pleasure boats in distress.
