The last of the renowned Peppercorn class A1 steam locomotives was scrapped in 1966. However, the "A1 Steam Locomotive Trust" have built a brand new A1, 60163 Tornado, which will be used on the mainline for charter trains at speeds of up to Shown here in 2008 in the final stages of construction.
