Li the Sixteenth Century rug weaving cameto its height, when the master pieces of Persian• w^eaving were done as an artist paints a beautifulpicture. They were not made to use on the floors,but thirty or forty years were spent on one rug,and as a work of art was treated as such, and leftas a monument, just as a painting or piece ofstatuary.
