Retired Gen. James F. Amos eats the first bight of cake as the guest of honor at Marine Aircraft Group 31’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball, aboard MCAS Beaufort, Nov. 9. According to Marine Corps tradition, the guest of honor at ball eats the first bite of the birthday cake. Amos was the 35 Commandant of the Marine Corps.
