The climate is delightful in theearly summer. In July and August, although the thermometer does notrise above 80° or 85°, the stillnessof the air causes the heat to beoppressive in the valley, and thenthe mosquitoes make up for theircomparatively mild sting by theirenormous numbers. At this periodvisitors are glad to ascend to theupland plateaus, Gulmarg; Sona-marg, in the Sindh valley ; Nagmarg ;Pailgam, at the head of the Liddarvalley, and Gurais.
