Former Texas Historical Commission Commissioner and 36th Infantry Division soldier, Thomas Hatfield, spoke on the steps of the the State Capitol as the Texas Historical Commission, Texas Military Forces Museum, the 36th Infantry Division and Texas State Legislators took part in a World War 1 Centennial Ceremony on April 6, in Austin, Texas. The ceremony commemorated the 100-year anniversary of participation in "The Great War." The 36th Inf. Div. participated in the largest offensive operation in military history at Meuse-Argonne, which, in victory, brought an end to the war.
