International students studying at Pestalozzi International Village in Sedlescombe, East Sussex. England. UK

Pestalozzi International Village UK is an educational charity based in Sedlescombe, East Sussex, England. The charity was founded in the UK in 1957 to support the Petalozzi Swiss Village in Switzerland. The village was built on an estate in Sedlescombe, UK and opened in 1959. 40 children between the ages of 10 and 18 from 15 European countries were accommodated and educated according to the principles of Swiss educationist called Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. Children were educated in local schools in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea. In later years, the trust's focus has changed to providing educational opportunities for young people aged 16 to 19 who are academically bright but financially disadvantaged. They select students from Belize, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Nepal, the Tibetan communities in exile, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, in 2018, the charity reached the difficult decision to sell off the 138 acre site and concentrate on funding scholarships.
