The series re-sistance averages 250 ohms. POLE ARRESTER FOR ALTER-NATING-CURRENTCIRCUITS NEW STEEL CAR DEPARTMENT OF THE ST. LOUIS CARCOMPANY The St. Louis Car Company has added a new departmentto its organization. It is known as the steel car departmentand will occupy two new buildings, one of which has alreadyboen constructed, and another now being erected. One ofthe buildings will be equipped with punches, shears, and othernecessary machinery, while the newer one will be used exclu-sively as an erecting shop. The steel cars, after being erected,will be painted and finished in the department where similarwork is done on cars of semi-steel and wood all-steel-bottom framing of the St. Louis Car Company,which might be said to have been the first step towards theconstruction of steel cars by the company, is now geiierally
