A late Gothic mace,German,circa 1500. The head has six inserted,toothed flanges,one flange slightly bent. A strong thrusting spike on top. The lower end of the head has a toothed collar where it meets the hollow,octagonal shaft. Round handle below a small corded guard plate. The grip has double holes for a lanyard. Simple pommel with a band-shaped reinforcement.
