Local man squeezes bamboo strips with kava root inside to make kava drink (also called sakau). The liquid streams into a coconut shell cup. The pounded kava root was mixed with water and is sitting on the rock and looks like a mound of wet straw. The resulting liquid is popular on Pacific islands and is mildly relaxing.
