At that time we hadonly seventy-eight members at two centresfor European work (Potchefstroom andPretoria). We had also native churchesamong the BaKwena and the the war a new era began with thefirst Synod of the Transvaal District in1882, of which the Be v. Owen Watkins wasChairman. As new missionaries arrivedforward movements were made. Thecountry was still without roads or bridges,and railways were unknown. Yet thesplendid work done in those pioneer daysprepared the way for the great results oflater NATIVES AT HOME IN THE KRAAL. tS I
