"Jock Salmon, one of Perth's Old Worthies": portrait of local character Jock Salmon or Salmond. An obituary in the Perth Advertiser, 17 Feb 1897, described him as having "led a wandering life, having no fixed place of abode, but taking up his quarters at night in clothes, of which he seemed to have a superabundance, were generally tattered & torn. He stooped in his gait, & supported himself by means of a staff which he sometimes used as a rod of chastisement to those who annoyed him." He carried canvas bags to store food & was "about 60 years of age" when he died.
