Malbork Castle (also known as Marienburg, and once the main seat of the Teutonic Knights), Malbork, Pomerania, Poland.


Veiw along the walls to the Castle Church with Zamek Wysoki (High Castle) rising beyond. Built by the Teutonic Knights, it was commenced circa 1276 and is reputedly Europe's largest Gothic castle. When it became the main seat of the order in 1309 it was expanded considerably and spread over 21 hectares making it the largest fortress built in the Middle Ages.
