Recruits of Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, participate in the Slide for Life obstacle during Confidence Course II at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 23. Halfway through the descent, recruits were instructed to change positions while hanging above the pool. As the last obstacle, recruits needed to summon every ounce of confidence and strength if they wanted to leave the event dry. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate April 22.
