Blue sky view, to Union Island, two small boats, blue-green seawater, man walking, Paradise Beach, Carriacou, West Indies

At 34 square kilometres (13 square miles) and 16 mile long, Carriacou is the largest island of the Grenadines. The climate is tropical and the hilly terrain slopes to white beaches. There are no rivers and local residents rely on rainwater for their water supply. Paradise Beach, seen here, looking towards Lauriston Point, is one of several beautiful beaches on the island, which is part of Grenada. Boat-building, fishing and sea-faring feature in the local economy.
