Teleutospores; a, the form fragilipes. amphigenous, but generally hypo- phyllous, small, scattered or con- fluent, often circinate, roundish, pulvinate, pale-brown; spores of two kindsâ(forma â persistens) broadly fusoid, strongly thickened and more or less conical at the apex, rounded or slightly attenuated below, gently constricted, smooth, very pale-brown, 32â46 x 10â yu.; pedicels hyaline, rather long, persistent; {forma fragilipes) ob- long-ellipgoid, with a conical papilla, distinctly constricted, yellowish-brown, with faint longitudinal ridges(?), 36â42 x 14â 19 /a; pedicels very deciduous. On Ghrysosplenium alternifolium, G. oppositifoUum. Not common. End of March to August or September. (Fig. 162.) The two kinds of spores are similar in form and function to those of P. Veronicarum ; forma persistens consists of spores which germinate as soon as mature, forma fragilipes of spores which rest during the winter. It is said that the latter are scarce, but when present they form smaller sori which are less confluent, often solitary, and are frequently found on the upper leaf-surface. Compare the two similar kinds of spores in P. Circaeae. Distribution: Central and Northern Europe, Eastern Asia. 86. Puccinia Thalictri Chev. Pucdnia Thaliotri Chevallier, Flor. Paris, i. 417. Plowr.
