Atthe end of forty-eight hours we give the wholecavity a good cleaning under strict aseptic pre-cautions, removing the blood clots attached tothe tissue completely. In cases where the wound has not been soiledduring the operation a daily renewal of theantiseptic powder after wiping out the old will TREATMENT 87 answer for the after-care, but where the cavitywas found badly infected or in instances wherethe operation was not a perfectly clean one, itis essential that the powder be renewed no lessfrequently than three times a day for the firstfour days. By attending with great care tothis large wound, the discharges will not beabundant, but when the whole area of exposedflesh is allowed to become contaminated the is-sue is copious.
