He was with Sheridanscommand at Amelia Springs, Little SailorsCreek and High Bridge, marking many minorengagements during tlie chase after Lee toAppomattox. His command was detailed toproceed to Danville to aid Sherman in closingif need be, but marched back on receiving newsof .lohnstons surrender, and went to Washing-ton. Mr. Patterson was in the Grand Reviewand was discharged near Washington June I 26, 1865, to be mustered out at Columbus, arrived home July 2d and on the 27th ofthe same month started for Wisconsin, goingdirect to Mauston, where he has continued toreside.
