In 1866 he connected himself with the Baptist Church. For sevenconsecutive years he was elected President of the Baptist Associationof West Va. July 6th, 1876 Professor Purinton married Miss Florence A., eldestdaughter of Prof. F. S. Lyon. Four children were born to them, threeof whom are still living.
