Roman Egyptian Fayum mummy portrait, 200 - 230 AD, Antinopolis. Louvre Museum AF 6883. Mummy portrait of a man (tunic, short hair, beard, necklace, mustache). The portrait is cut at shoulder level to fit the mummy according to a shape characteristic of Antinopolis portraits. The rendering of the complexions is remarkable - in particular that of the brown skin raised with pink glazes on the cheeks. Wood. Height: 38 cm; Width : 24 cm. Dennon room 183.
