Kids slide down the Sliding Rock in Pisgah National Forest, NC. Sliding Rock is a 60-foot slippery cascade into the 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool. There are 2 observation platforms, and lifeguards on duty during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area which often fills to capacity. Persons parking on the side of the road, outside of the designated parking area, will be ticketed. It is suggested, too, that you wear old shorts and old sneakers if you choose to take the plunge. Entry is $ per person for sliders and observers. (Forest Service photo by Cecilio Ricardo)
