Dusk on a Lagoon in the Peruvian Amazon
The Pacaya Samiria Nature Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon (northeast in region of Loreto) is home to more than a third of the fauna of all species in the Amazon and almost one hundred thousand natives and settlers from the outside. Meandering and gliding through the Amazon rainforest, lagoons and tributaries on a skiff at sunset and beyond is experiencing the beauty of nature at its finest. The colors of the sky and its reflection on water are mesmerizing. While the Amazon gets darker at night, it never sleeps. The air remains heavy infused with humidity and the smell of wet foliage, the waters remain calm, heavenly defying the concept of time while transfixed by the different sounds and calls of the nocturnal creatures.
