The danger over, they catch hold and await their prey farther down stream. Inspite of their vicious looking jaws theseinsects are not venomous. At the verj^worst they could do no more than pinchthe finger of the unwary explorer. When the Dobson is full grown, itis called a Hellgrammite fly or hornedCorydalis. It has lost none of its ugliness, though it has gained two pairs of thinbrownish gray wings, and flies about inthe evening. It has been known to cre-ate some consternation by flying in at anopen window. It is harmless and short-lived in the adult stage. Upturned stones are likely to bring to view other strangers. Lying close against their wet surfaces one usually finds young May-flies. (See Fig. 91.)* These, like the young dragon-flies, are called 7iymphs.
