The Army Corps of Engineers Europe District recently started renovating and new construction to modernize a post World War II converted fire station in Comrat, Moldova. The project includes updating all living and sleeping accomodations, modernizing the communication room, five addition new fire truck garages and a completely new Emergency Operation Center which will be housed in the second floor addition. The project includes updating all living and sleeping accomodations, modernizing the communication room, five addition new fire truck garages and a completely new Emergency Operation Center which will be housed in the second floor addition. The center and fire station will provide resue and emergency operation serves for the 12 surrounding villages with total population of approximately 35 thousand people. When complete, the facility will also serve as the emergency center headquarter for neigboring city of Chisinau located 64 miles north of Comrat.
