Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktshang Goemba) complex, including Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, on a tall cliff near Paro, Bhutan

The landmark Tiger's Nest (Taktshang) Goemba (Tibetan Buddhist Monastery) perched high on the edge of a tall, sheer cliff near Paro, Bhutan. Also seen on the top of a hill at the left of the image is the nearby Zangto Pelri Lhakhang (Buddhist monastery). According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Buddhism in Bhutan, meditated in a cave at Taktshang after arriving on the back of a flying tiger. Construction of the first temple at this site began in 1692.
