Totnes Castle, 14th century, (1990-2010). Reconstruction drawing by Ivan Lapper showing the castle being rebuilt in stone in the 14th century. Such major building projects were expensive and required considerable labour. Specialist craftsmen would have been involved in cutting and preparing the stone. Norman motte and bailey castle in Totnes, Devon, England. The first castle dates from 11th century with keep and curtain wall dating from around the 14th century.
