Whilethese transactions were going forward within the town, andin its immediate vicinity, the two brothers despatched to the Three Rocks by the loyalists were engaged in endeavour-ing to obtain terms of capitulation from the stipulated on the part of those who sent them thatthe town, together with all the arms and ammunition itcontained, should be delivered up to the captors, on the solecondition that the lives of the garrison should be spared. Tothese terms the insurgents at length agreed, and, detainingone of the brothers, sent the other, in company with , to see that the conditions were faithfully carried. Vinegar Hill.
