Tankard 1649 Images based on printed designs by Dietrich Mayer The arms on the lid (Rahn impaling Escher) are those of Hans Heinrich Rahn (1593–1669), who married Ursula Escher in 1612. He became a Burghermaster of Zurich in 1655. The personification of Faith, Hope, and Charity are variants of the figures in an engraving by Dietrich Meyer. Better known as painter and engraver, Meyer is thought to have learned the verre eglomise technique from the Zurich master Hans Jakob Tankard 204969
