A Bronze statue of Nelson Mandela by artists Xhanti Mpakama and Barry Jackson stands on the balcony of the Cape Town City Hall on the exact spot where Madiba gave his first public speech as a free man on 11 February 1990. It was comissioned at part of Madiba centenary celebrations.
