It was in thisbuilding that in 1828 a boy eighteenyears of age, named Patrick Durgen, wastried and found guilty of entering thedwelling of his master at night and rob-bing the till of a quarter of a this offence he was condemned todeath and executed. Such was justiceas administered in New Brunswick sixty-three years ago. The Crookshank House, is the oldestin St. John, and stands within a hundredfeet of the Market Square.
