C, My dear Dr. Nierriam: Thank you for your letter of January 16. I share 'with you a feelinf? of disgust concerning the advertisement entitled "Christian Psychology". In the past there have been several advertisements appearing irregularly in Nature Magazine which we feel do not belong there and tend to cheapen _ the of the publication. We have had a serious problem in this regard because, even with such advertisinc as -,v⬠do publish. Nature Magazine is not self-supporting. You nay have noticed tlat we have been obliged during the past year to omit Rorsfall's color work from the magazine simply because we could not afford the expense. However, it will interest you to know in this connection that Mi-. Ridsdale and I have given notice to all of our advertising agents and made a new arrangement with two experienced men of the highest principles to handle the advertising in Nature Kagaime in the future, with the hope and real expectation that they will be able to secure enough high-class advertising to supoort the publica- tion It is also definitely vinderstood in the contract that we have the right to reject any advertising which Me feel is not suitaole and proper.
