Kokerbome (Quiver trees) - Aloe dichotoma taken near Kenhardt in the Northern Cape


The Kokerboom ( quiver tree ) - Aloe dichotoma - is found in the hot dry rocky areas from Nieuwoudsville, north up into Namibia and eastwards towards Kenhardt. The branches of the tree was used by the San bushmen the make arrows. The large trunks of dead trees may be hollowed out and used as a bush fridge. As air passes though the tissue of the plant it causes cooling.
