Memorial and remains of two life boats from the USS William H Walsh, sunk after it struck a reef at Eilean Furadh Mor


The wreck of the USS Willliam H Walsh, a Liberty Ship, lies in the waters off the Island of Eilean Furadh Mor, near the entrance to Loch Ewe. The ship struck the reef at Black Bay at 04:20 hours on February 26th 1944, she had a crew of 74, 40 bodies were recovered, there were 12 survivors. Two of the lifeboats from the vessel are still to be found rusting on the rocky beach of Black Bay,
