At the heart of Beijing lies the The Forbidden City - the Imperial Palace and seat of the Emperor from the Ming to the end of the Qing dynasty, over five centuries which finally ended in 1912. It is a magnificent site, but usually crowded with tourists. But there are still quiet spots and stunning vistas to be found, if you look hard enough.
