The Cone Nebula
The Cone Nebula, located 2,700 lightyears from Earth in the northern part of the Monoceros constellation. This image is a composite of several observations made by the Hubble Space Telescope. The star NGC 2264 IRS, which lies off the top of this image, is the likely source of the stellar wind sculpting the nebula. The reddish hue of the nebula is produced by glowing hydrogen gas.
