C, February 27, 1809, anddied there, unmarried, August 31, 1862. He prepared for college at the Pineville Academy and at the schools in parish and Charleston. He entered the Academj^ in 1825, andgraduated in 1828. He was an extensive cotton planter until his death. He was captain ofthe St. Stephens Co. State mihtia, which he enrolled for service dxiring theNullification trouble in 1832. THOMAS WILLIAM PORCHER, M. D. Thomas W. Porcher, son of Samuel Porcher, was born in St. StephensParish, Charleston County, S. C, August 26, 1807, and died at his plantation,Walworth, February 11, 1889.
