A tourist photographs the spectacular scenery along the Li River while floating on a bamboo raft in Yangshuo. Speckled with karst mountains and the gently flowing rivers, this region outside Guiling has seen an explosion of Chinese and Western backpackers in the last few years. They come for caving, rafting, mountain climbing and biking opportunities. The Li River appears on China's 20 Yuan (RMB) note.
