McKinley Grove Big Trees, Sierra National Forest

California Sequoias, also known as giant sequoias, are the largest trees in the world and can live for over 3,000 years. These majestic trees are found only in a few scattered groves in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range, where they thrive in the moist, fertile soil and mild climate. The trees can grow to be over 300 feet tall and have a massive girth, with some trees reaching over 30 feet in diameter. California Sequoias are known for their reddish-brown bark, which is up to three feet thick and highly fire-resistant.
