Fig. 151 is a particularly interesting case because of its longstanding. The patient had fallen down stairs, and sustained, as X-RAY IN FRACTURES AND DISLOCATIONS 323 can be plainly seen, a fracture of the ulna and a displacement ofthe radius. The man was muscular, and there was very littledeformity from outside appearances. The injury was thirty-onedays old, and the arm had been in a flexed and semi-flexed positionduring this time. This is a rather peculiar injury, and the authorhas never seen a duplicate of it in practice, or in any text-bookor journal article. Under complete chloroform anesthesia the dis-placement was reduced by making pressure on the end of the radiuswith the thumbs and gently extending the arm. When the radiuswent into place, the ulna was easily brought into its normal position,and the arm was dressed extended.
