This tomato is dwarf and eompact in growth, the plants growing stiff and upright, with thick jointed stems and foliage, unlike many other tomatoes, of an unusually dark green color, thick and corrugated So compact are the plants that they can be planted as close as three feet, which allows suffi- cient space to gether the fruit. Heavy manuring, instead of pro- ducing a superabundant growth of vines, as in many varieties of tomatoes, only increase the yield and size of the fruit. In formi color and size these tomatoes resemble the Acme, very smooth and symmetrical in shape, and ripening around the stem. It matures its fruit ready for market as early as July first It is very produc- tive, many stalks having the fruit crowded close together on the branches for a space of fifteen inches. % oz. 12c, oz. 20c, % lb. It is much earlier and every way better than a similar variety adver- tised as a novelty under nams of Cape Gooseberry, while it is in- comparably better than the "Improved Ground Cherry.'- It has a strawberry flavor, which gives it a relish to eat out of hand.
