He participated in the following: Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville,Gettysburg, Wapping Heights, Rappahannock Station, Mine Run,Wilderness, Laurel Hill, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Bethesda Church,Petersburg, Weldon R. R. Poplar Grove Church, Hatchers Run. WhiteOak Road, Five Forks, Appomattox. At the battle of Five Forks, forcapturing a stand of colors from the Ninth Virginia Infantry, he wasawarded the Medal of Honor.
